LOS HAITISES NATIONAL PARK + MONTAÑA REDONDA
Discover the picturesque mountainous Eastern and Northeastern regions of the Dominican Republic!
You will be picked up from your hotels in the morning by a comfortable modern bus. It will first take you to the cozy fishermen’s village in the Eastern Dominican called Miches.
Next, you will head to the Los Haitises National park, one of the main ecological attractions of the country. Here you will explore its rich fauna and exuberant flora with the endemic species of this region. You will visit three caves, each of which have many petroglyphs, or engravings on the walls, demonstrating the art left behind by the Tainos, the first inhabitants of the Caribbean islands. You will also see various species of birds and animals that inhabit these caves. You will also admire many mogotes, the local limestone hills scattered in the sea waters, home to numerous different bird species.
Next, we take a boat ride to the pier and head to the restaurant to have lunch (buffet style).
Afterwards, we take the bus and head to Montaña Redonda. A safari truck will take us to its top where you will admire a breathtaking view. Mountain Redonda is located between two different lagoons (Laguna Limón & Laguna Redonda). It has an unforgettable 360° panorama: the Atlantic ocean, local mountains and villages, the peninsula of Samaná. The best thing about it all is that there are several swings and hammocks available so that you can fully enjoy the moment in the gentle breeze on the top of the world.
